RICHARD HOFMANN ART GALLERIES

Featured on this website are artworks from the estate of Richard Hofmann (1954–1994), painter and AIDS activist, including monumental canvases measuring up to 6 × 10 feet. Also being released are hundreds of additional original works preserved over the past forty years in a range of media, including woodcuts, etchings, and vintage club posters from the legendary East Village venues Danceteria and The Roxy.

Hofmann’s work was most recently featured in the exhibition catalogue for About Face: Stonewall, Revolt and New Queer Art by Jonathan David Katz (pp. 216–219), which examines the emergence of queer artistic expression in the post-Stonewall era.

A limited number of affordable, high-quality reproductions of several of the most popular paintings from the 2022 solo exhibition Love and Kisses from the East Village 1986 also remain available while supplies last.

Inquiries regarding custom reproduction sizes are welcome. Please feel free to contact us to discuss availability or special requests.
